LITTLE LEAGUE (U13)

Little League is for players who are aged between 9 and 12 by the 31st August 2021.

PRE-SEASON TRAINING

Teal: Wednesday 4.30pm @ our home grounds at Lakelands Oval.

Navy: Wenesday & Friday 4.30pm @ our home grounds at Lakelands Oval.

In season training TBA, weekday afternoons from 4:30pm till 6pm.

Little League is a modified game of baseball with the major differences being:

  • The game is played on a 60ft diamond (not 90ft like seniors)
  • The pitching distance is 46ft (not 60ft like seniors)
  • Runners cannot steal bases until the ball has passed the batter (more similar to softball rules)
  • There are restrictions on the number of pitches a Pitcher can throw in any one game and is age dependent
  • There are restrictions on the number of innings a catcher may catch

Saturday LL baseball is about fun, fair play and enabling all players to have the opportunity to play in every position on the field.

All LL divisions are played on a Saturday morning at 10am. PDS play in a league with Rockingham and Secret Harbour, so games will either be at our new grounds at Lakelands Oval, Hourglass Reserve in Rockingham or Lark Hill in Secret Harbour depending  on the fixtures

Ideally if we have enough players register into Little League we can split this group of players into 2 groups:

LL Minor Player Pitch and LL Major Player Pitch.

  • LL Minor League Player Pitch – is for players aged 8 to 11.  This is the next step up from Machine Pitch but instead of the machine, a player pitches the ball to the batter just like “proper” baseball.  This game can be modified to suit the individual skill level of players as required as well.  The idea is to get the kids used to hitching a pitched ball, to learn the correct mechanics of pitching and increase their understanding of the complexities of the game of baseball. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SIDE A LL MINORS TEAM THIS SEASON.
  • LL Major League Player Pitch – is for players aged 9 – 12.  This is the next level of LL for players who have some basic fundamental skills to build upon and to learn more about the intricacies of baseball.

In past years PDS, Rockingham and Secret Harbour have not had the number of players register to be able to have both LL Minor and LL Major Teams. Instead we have combined the two levels of player skill levels and made adjustments accordingly.  PDS is hoping that we have an increase in our player registrations this year that will allow us to offer both levels of LL.

Depending on the age of the player, they can play Teeball, Machine Pitch and Little League all at the same time.

This gives them more weekly games with which to increase their skill levels much quicker.

PDS also offers a reduced price for players who register in 2 divisions with a discount of $30 off the combined fees.

If they register for 3 divisions they are eligible for a discount of $50.

**This discount does not apply to players who partake of the offer of free Machine Pitch.

The focus of the Saturday competition is for all the players to have a go at playing all the different positions on the field.  The more competitive and skilled players can try out for the LL Club Championship (formerly ALLSTARS) team.

LITTLE LEAGUE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP (ALLSTARS) TEAM –
